I keep bottles of it everywhere

Believe me, I'm not germ-a-phobe, but I like to keep my hands sanitized. I keep a bottle of this in my car, next to my keyboard, in the bathroom... just about everywhere I'd need one. Some people complain about "sliminess", but I think it absorbs/evaporates very quickly. I also dig the nice little hint of aloe so it doesn't smell like alcohol as much.
OUR FAVORITE OF THE INSTANT HAND SANITIZERS

It would seem that the era of the instant hand sanitizer is upon us. You see it everywhere; schools, stores, nursing homes, hospitals, on desks, in purses, in cars and on and on and on. I use this stuff myself as I am in and out of nursing facilities, hospitals and schools on a daily bases.
My choice, or I should say "our choice," as my wife uses this product also, is Purell. We keep it in all three of our bathrooms, kitchen, both of our desks and in all of our cars. My wife carries a smaller bottle than seen here in here purse, and indeed, since I carry a "man pouch," I carry one myself. Now there are several things to keep in mind when using this product and others like it.
First, the solution must have between 60 and 95 percent alcohol content to be effective. Purell stands at 62 percent, which is on the low side. The reason we use a product with this lower content of alcohol is that there is far less drying of the skin. My wife has ultra sensitive skin and we have found that higher alcohol content found in some like products causes her some misery. Also, the lotions contained in this product seem to help her condition.
Secondly it should be noted that this product should NOT be use in lieu of hand washing. Good old soap and warm to hot water simply cannot be replaced. This hand sanitizer, like others of its ilk, needs to be used as a supplement only. Also, it does very little good to use this product on grimy or dirt covered hands. It is most effective if used on "clean" hands. I worry when I see the kids at school using this stuff and their little hands look as if they have been grubbing in the garden for three days.
Thirdly, this product claims to kill 99.9 percent of all germs, bacteria, viruses...i.e. grunkies. To be quite frank, I seriously doubt that claim. I of course have no proof, but I am a skeptic by nature and common sense tells me that the tests the company has run were not necessarily run under normal everyday real life conditions.
Forth...To be effective, you must use a liberal amount of this stuff. If you hands dry in less than twenty seconds after use, then you simply are not using enough of the stuff.
Fifth: While this stuff may or may not be as effective as the manufactures claim, I figure it can't hurt to use it and it does give me a psychological boost as to peace of mind when I use it.
We have used a number of other like products and for our needs this one is the best. Again though, I must stress frequent hand washings using soap, warm water and good technique. Use this product as a supplement.

I travel on the highway a lot and I keep a non-pump bottle in my car (the pump bottle tips over and leaks everywhere). Its good to have if you are stopping somewhere to eat on the way and don't have a means to wash your hands. The aloe version doesn't dry out my hands as much as the non-aloe version, so I like this better.

I ordered this 6-pack since I couldn't find a large refill size of the aloe Purell. I was pleased to receive a 6-pack of 12-ounce size instead of the advertised 8-ounce size, for the same $16 price.

During the cold and flu season, I am continually worried about "catching something." Commuting to and from, as well as, at work; in crowds; in church and even in my home, I'm nearly compulsive about washing my hands. Purell has answered my prayers and eased my mind with their Instand Hand Sanitizer. It's easy to use, readily available and needs no water or towels. I have it in both bathrooms, on my desk at work and even in my car. Try it once and you'll be hooked; you'll also clear your mind of worry about "catching something."
